POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) will work in accordance with the Radiologists to provide exceptional patient care and assist the Radiologists in the day-to-day clinical operations. Must be able to adapt to various clinical situations and perform a variety of complex procedures. The APP has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs and also involves other care partners (radiologist, referring providers, staff support) as needed to help ensure the appropriate provision of clinical services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing procedures under general and proximate supervision and E&M within the scope of practice of a radiology APP and as outlined on the delineation of privileges
- Responsible for assisting with training of new APP hires to include clinical responsibilities and procedural skillset
- Participates, collaborates and actively engages with APP administration, radiologists and hospital staff to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes
- Involved in clinical work managing complex patients through advanced decision making, interpretation of laboratory values, assessment of radiological studies, clinical evaluations and procedures. Perform initial consultation, follow-up visits, hospital rounds, and obtain majority of H&P for all radiology procedures
- Serve as an educational and clinical resource to staff as well as to patients and their families
- Assists with formulation of policies and protocols as they relate to APP team and clinical workflow based off established guidelines. Committees developed to assist with this process include APP panel
- Assumes other duties as assigned by Operations Committee
- Participates in research initiatives for the development of protocols and/or data analysis
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to manage all service lines
Minimum Qualifications: Education/Licensing/Certification:
- Graduate level education
- Advanced Practice Provider
- Certification by the NCCPA, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NCMB, DEA
- Licensure permits treatment of all ages
Experience (years and type):
- 1-3 years’ experience
- Surgery, trauma, critical care, vascular, experience with clinical procedures and inpatient/outpatient consultations experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- At least 2 years of direct clinical experience
- Knowledge of company & compliance policies and clinical procedures
- Effective utilization of clinical equipment to include US/Fluoro/CT
- Adept with EMR and dictation system
- Analytic ability to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement plan of care
- Ability to perform procedures requiring fine motor skills to include repetitive hand work
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills
- Apply critical-thinking and problem solving skills to function effectively and adapt to a dynamic and often changing work environment including multiple hospital facilities
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Full day of walking and standing
- Lifting up to 25lbs
- Radiology department and outpatient clinic located within hospital – to include potential work at outpatient centers. Exposure to radiation, infectious disease, contaminated equipment, chemical hazards
