Full Job Description
- This position is primarily for administrative medical assessments and readiness functions.
- Duties may include Soldier evaluations including physical examinations to determine if the standards of AR 40-501 are met in response to Commander requests (e.g., Fit for Duty Evaluations, specialty exams for schools and positions).
- Establish clear and concise communication with the referring provider as necessary. Ensure COCOM guidance criteria and waiver submission accordingly IAW AR policy document and profile temporary limitations in the member’s medical record. Documents actions in relevant medical records systems Uses clinical skills and knowledge to complete comprehensive medical and physical assessments for assigned Soldiers IAW with prescribed regulations, policies, and orders. Via secure automated system, submit files and records to obtain higher level signature.
- Review medical documentation for recommendation and approval of Temporary and Permanent profiles (DA Form 3349). Perform clinical review of documentation, to include complete exam history including records, lab and imaging evaluation and in-person evaluation (if needed) to determine functional abilities, medical instructions and recovery time estimates.
- Assist the Deputy State Surgeon and commanders, for accurate readiness and duty assignment and recommend etermination IAW AR 40-501 Standards of Medical Fitness and/or clear the Soldier to return to duty in accordance with regulations, as appropriate. Validate all supporting medical documentation in reference to injury, illness, disease, etc. and ensure upload into HRR.
- Fitness for Duty (FFD). Review for deployment limiting conditions and make determination IAW DoD INSTRUCTION 1332.18., AR 40-501, AR 40-502 and all other regulatory guidance.
- Provide report to the COR/Alt COR NLT last business day of the month.
- Review and sign medical readiness assessment, DD 3024, refer Soldier to Nurse Case
- Management (as applicable) IAW AR 40-501/40-502.
- Pre-Deployment Health Assessment (DD2795). Review (and sign) to evaluate the Soldiers to determine if they meet the combatant command (CCMD) deployment requirements or require a waiver, refer to Nurse Case Management as applicable IAW AR 40-501/40-502.
- Post-Deployment Health Assessment (DD2796) and Post-Deployment Health
- Reassessment (DD2900). Review to determine medical readiness, signs, and refers to Nurse Case Management
- Conduct referrals to specialists. As necessary, refer Soldiers to specialty care to ensure Soldier has all necessary documentation in accordance with regulations.
- Non-Duty Physical Evaluation Board (ND PEB). Review and determine if Soldier meets medical retention standards, make referrals as needed, review and validate all medical documentation, complete narrative summary (NARSUM), and return to duty if applicable.
- Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP). Determine individual readiness for deployment;
- review medical information to determine Soldier medical readiness status IAW DODI 6490.07 and Combatant Command (COCOM) published medical screening criteria. Maintain daily spreadsheet of assessments completed by MSC.
- Medical Readiness Events (MRE). Provide physician assistant services at MRE events as determined by the needs of the state and the individual
Qualifications– Valid Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.- Experience in a hospital setting is preferred but not required.- Proficiency in performing physical examinations and basic life support techniques.- Familiarity with cardiac catheterization procedures is a plus.- Ability to effectively ventilate patients in emergency situations.- Experience with phlebotomy techniques is desirable.- Knowledge of botulinum toxin treatment protocols is an advantage.- Proficient in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic, for documentation purposes.- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
