If you have worked in a pediatric chain clinic where you see back to back children for 8 to 10 hours with no documentation time, no mentorship, and a supervisor you never see, you already know what burnout feels like. We built Sensory Therapeutics of NJ to be the opposite of that.

We are a specialty sensory and neurodevelopmental OT practice with over 10 years of experience in West Caldwell, NJ. We specialize in sensory integration, primitive reflex integration, neurodevelopmental treatment, and low level laser therapy using the Avant lasers. Our approach is whole body, root cause, and deeply relationship centered.

A Full Caseload Waiting for You From Day One

This is not a position where you spend months waiting for your schedule to fill. We have an established full caseload of 25 clients ready and waiting for the right therapist starting August 17, 2026. You will be treating from your very first day in a practice that has been serving families in the West Caldwell community for over 6 years. This is not just a treating position. The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow into our low level laser therapy program, one of the most exciting and differentiated clinical offerings in pediatric OT today. Over time you will learn to assist with and eventually administer laser protocols independently and contribute to program development here at our West Caldwell clinic.

What Your Day Actually Looks Like Here

• You see a minimum of 25 to 35 maximum clients per week
• You have 48 hours after each session to complete your notes, not point of service documentation under pressure
• You have weekly one on one clinical mentorship with Dr. Galo Aguayo, OTD, OTR/L, a doctoral level clinician with over 10 years of specialty experience
• Your caseload varies including CP, genetic conditions, autism, adhd, sensory processing disorders, and primitive reflex retention
• You are introduced to low level laser therapy and photobiomodulation from day one with a structured three phase training pathway built into your role

What We Are Looking For

• Valid New Jersey OTR/L license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a sensory integration or specialty pediatric OT clinic strongly preferred
• Experience with or strong interest in sensory integration, primitive reflex integration, or neurodevelopmental approaches
• Familiarity with Star Institute approach, reflex integration, Sensory Pyramid framework, DIR Floortime, or similar models is a strong plus
• Experience completing evaluations using standardized tools such as the Sensory Profile, BOT-3, Beery VMI, Vineland, or similar
• Strong documentation skills with ability to write clear medically necessary insurance friendly notes
• Genuine clinical curiosity especially around complex neurological and neurodevelopmental presentations
• Warm relationship centered communication style with children and families
• Interest in low level laser therapy and photobiomodulation is a significant plus but not required as full training is provided

• Base salary of $68,000 to $72,000 per year based on experience

• Structured three phase laser therapy training pathway from observation through independent administration and program development
• Access to neuroadaptive therapy mentorship through our clinical network
• Priority routing of complex and specialty cases including CP, genetic conditions, and complex neurological presentations
• Total compensation package valued at over $100,000 annually when all components are included

The Laser Therapy Opportunity in More Detail

Low level laser therapy and photobiomodulation is one of the most exciting frontiers in pediatric and neurological OT. We use the Avant LZ30 with Revi and ProZ lasers and work with a certified neuroadaptive therapy mentor to develop and refine our protocols.

Here is what your laser training pathway looks like:

Phase 1: Observe sessions, learn protocols and clinical reasoning, and begin understanding neuroadaptive treatment planning.

Phase 2: Assist with laser intensives by leading reflex integration and sensory activities alongside the supervising clinician.

Phase 3: Independently administer laser protocols and contribute to program development at our clinic.

This is a rare opportunity to grow into a specialty that most OTs in NJ have never encountered. Full training is provided and there is no prior laser experience required.
