Full Job Description
Job Summary:
Provides direct patient care to the neurosurgical patient including rounds, consultations, first assisting in the OR, partake in education activities, and promotion of HMHN-JSUMC Neurosurgery .
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for performing rounds and have knowledge of all patients on the list per schedule assignment.
- Answer the service phone and direct care.
- Communicate the patient’s current status with the appropriate Attending.
- Responsible for the signout to be updated completely.
- Responsible for first assist, preoperative and post-operative, surgical cases per schedule assignment.
- Responsible for completing consultations per scheduled assignment.
- Present and partake in research and educational activities as requested by the supervisor or manager.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Support objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals.
- Possessing and performing clinical practice and critical thinking to accurately reflect code of ethics, the New Jersey Department of Health requirements, JCAHO, and institutional policies and procedures which provides for effective and safe patient/customer outcomes.
- Promotes, monitors, and facilitates patient teaching and support programs for patients/families in area of expertise.
- Responsible for continuing education and expanding job knowledge.
- Mentor Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner students.
- Participates in continuing education and maintaining documentation.
- Utilizes principles of communication and change of theory to establish positive working relationships with physicians, APPs, nursing, administrative and medical center departments to accomplish the goals of Hackensack Meridian Health Network.
- Facilitates patient teaching and support programs for patients/families in area of expertise.
- Promotes continuity of patient care within the institution from admittance to discharge, by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Regularly incorporates new scientific findings into educational programs and/or clinical practice units in areas of expertise.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned by the manager or director.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Masters Degree required
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Clinical Neurosurgery experience
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. NJ state licensure as a Physician Assistant
2. NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support)
2. FCCS (Fundamentals of Critical Care Support)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $160,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
