Full Job Description
Under new ownership
Rails Company is rebuilding from the ground up—and this is our foundational hire. We design and manufacture electromechanical systems for the rail industry: switch heaters and control panels, wheel lubrication systems, and related track equipment.
You’ll be our Chief Engineer, run operations, and handle office management as we rebuild the team. A key part of the mission: modernize our product line for the next generation of rail infrastructure. This is a hands-on, build-something role with a clear path to COO.
What You’ll Do
- Own the engineering function—design, build, and modernize our switch heaters, control panels, and lubrication systems
- Run daily operations and office management
- Help architect and maintain the systems and processes that keep the business running
- Handle basic accounting oversight—know the numbers, hold your own with vendors and accountants
- Help hire and develop the team as we grow
What We’re Looking For
- Electromechanical engineering degree, or significant hands-on electrical/mechanical experience
- MBA or strong business acumen with enough accounting fluency that no one can snow you
- A systems thinker who builds repeatable processes, not one-off fixes
- Comfortable being the only engineer in the room, and willing to do the work
- Ready to grow into the COO role
Why Rails Company
95 year old trusted and recognized brand in the industry.
Ground-floor impact under new ownership and leadership, a clear runway to COO, and real ownership of what you build. An ESOP is under consideration—potential to share in the value you help create.
