Locum Tenens Assignment
July 2026 – March 2027
Four 10-Hour Shifts Weekly | No Call | Outpatient Only
A premier cardiovascular surgery program in Northern New Jersey is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide outpatient cardiac surgery coverage during a long-term leave of absence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an APP with cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, surgical, or cardiology experience who is looking for a predictable schedule, strong team support, and a highly respected practice environment.
Position Highlights:
- Outpatient-only practice
- No call responsibilities
- Four 10-hour shifts per week
- Long-term assignment through March 2027
- Monday–Friday schedule with one weekday off each week

Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage preoperative cardiac surgery patients
- Conduct postoperative follow-up visits
- Monitor surgical recovery and patient progress
- Provide patient education and care coordination
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
- Perform minor postoperative procedures as needed
Procedures May Include:
- Wound assessment and management
- Wound debridement
- Packing placement
- Postoperative incision care
Patient Volume:
- Approximately 10 patients per day
Team Environment:
- Work alongside experienced cardiac surgeons
- Established team of advanced practice providers
- Dedicated clinical and administrative support staff
- Collaborative outpatient and inpatient cardiac surgery teams
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License
- Current CDS Registration
- Current DEA
- Cardiac Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Surgical, ICU, or Cardiology experience preferred
