Full Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director and Associate Directors of Emergency Medicine, provides medical care to patients in the Emergency Department. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: Evaluates and treats patients presenting themselves for care in the Emergency Department. Evaluates and treats patients throughout the hospital in consultation with their attending physician when called by the nursing staff. Consults with private physicians concerning their patients in the Emergency Department and advises them concerning the need for admission of their patients to the hospital. Institutes immediate intervention in life or disability-threatening emergencies. Is responsible for the safety of patients in the department in the absence of their private physician. Documents evaluation of and treatment given to all patients in the Emergency Department medical record. Provides each patient with discharge instructions, both oral and written. Works assigned shifts and does not leave the Emergency Department except to respond to cardiac arrests or emergency calls from the inpatient units unless relieved by another Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Emergency Physician. Location: White Plains Hospital · Emergency Physicians Schedule: Full Time, Varied, Mon-Fri 7A-7P, 13 shifts per month, alternating w/e & holiday
