FT position available, Days 8-hour shifts from 9-5. No weekends or University holidays.
Responsibilities
Position available for NP/PA to work as an addiction medicine consultant for patients admitted to the hospital. The provider will work in collaboration with Medical Toxicology and Addiction Medicine Board Certified Attending Physicians. Physician support will always be available as backup in the division of Medical Toxicology under the department of Emergency Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital. Pharmacy specialists are also available as a resource for the Medical Toxicology and Addiction Medicine team. Prior experience working in clinical settings where substance use disorder treatment is offered is a plus but not required. A genuine interest and high degree of motivation to work with and treat patients with substance use disorders is essential. In addition to direct medical care, the role would involve acting as a liaison between multiple inpatient teams, as well as working with both institutional and external outpatient chemical dependency treatment programs and individual providers that provide these services. In this role, NP/PAs will provide comprehensive assessments of patients struggling with addiction and substance use diagnoses to manage acute and perioperative pain, including patients treated with buprenorphine and methadone. Responsibilities will also include developing treatment plans in collaboration with the primary medical teams to ensure safe disposition plans.Excellent communication and teamwork required. Current national certification for NPs and PAs required. Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
Require a Master’s degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
Physician Assistant
Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $47.12- $65.97
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
