The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

NP/PA

M-F 8-hour Day/Evening shift.

The area of practice is in the cardiac catheterization/electrophysiology laboratory caring for both inpatients and outpatients. The patient population will include patients undergoing procedures in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory. This is a full-time day/evening shift. There currently are no holiday, overnight or weekend requirements.

The APP will provide comprehensive care to cardiology patients. Primary responsibility will be to care for patients before and after cardiology procedures including but not limited to coronary angiogram/angioplasty, right heart catheterizations, biopsies, complex structural heart procedures ablations, AICD, pacemaker, cardioversions and peripheral angiograms. The APP will obtain history and physical findings, initiate appropriate orders, admit/discharge border patients, discharge planning and communications, placing pre-procedure orders, care follow-up calls, radiation exposure follow-up, communicate with providers on and off service and continue to coordinate care throughout the hospital stay. The APP will be expected to manage peri-procedural complications as well including, but not limited to hematomas, retroperitoneal bleed, stroke, stent thrombosis, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, vasovagal responses, contrast dye reaction, and respiratory distress. The APP will be accessible to patients and other health care providers in the event of a complication

The APP will provide verbal and written educational support for patients and their support system. The APP will provide educational support, informal and formal, for the cardiac catheterization staff, affiliated units, cardiology fellows and referring physician offices.

The APP will be actively involved with quality assurance initiatives. The APP would be involved in departmental committees, student preceptorship and give in-service presentations at times. There may be other task responsibilities in the future as well therefore candidates must be able to adapt to the needs of the service line.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge and technical skills, good teaching ability and the desire to learn. Strong preference for candidates who independently engage in problem solving and work well in a fast paced, complex, team-based environment.

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
