Duties
- Assist physicians during complex endovascular procedures such as catheterizations, angiograms, and stent placements, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to prepare patients for procedures and follow-up care.
- Administer injections, medications, and contrast agents under supervision, ensuring proper dosing and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Manage pre- and post-procedure patient care, including monitoring ventilator support, acute pain management, and triage of emergent issues within hospital or outpatient settings.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including imaging studies (medical imaging), diagnostic evaluation reports, and coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 standards for accurate billing.
- Support discharge planning, patient education on medication administration, wound care (including suturing), and follow-up appointments to optimize recovery outcomes.
Qualifications
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS).
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care (ICU), or Level I/II trauma centers with exposure to acute care environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; experience with telehealth platforms is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and CPT coding standards.
- Experience administering injections, performing physical examinations, and utilizing aseptic techniques in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Familiarity with vascular procedures including cardiac catheterization and catheterization techniques; OR experience is advantageous.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to triage urgent issues efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in hospital or outpatient clinics; experience with hospital medicine or post-acute care settings enhances your fit for this role.
