Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis

Position Summary:A Dermatology Physician Assistant (PA) works under the supervision of a board-certified dermatologist to provide comprehensive care for patients with skin, hair, and nail conditions. The PA is responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, and patient education, ensuring high-quality dermatological care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including taking medical histories and performing physical exams, such as skin cancer screenings.
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of dermatological conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and skin cancers.

Treatment Planning and Implementation

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, which may include prescribing medications, recommending skincare regimens, and performing in-office procedures like biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and laser therapy.
  • Administer and monitor treatments, including topical, oral, and injectable medications.

Procedures

  • Perform minor surgical procedures such as mole removals, cyst excisions, biopsies, and wound care.
  • Assist in more complex dermatologic surgeries under physician supervision, including Mohs surgery.

Patient Education and Preventive Care

  • Educate patients and families on skin health, disease prevention, sun protection, and self-examination techniques.
  • Provide guidance for managing chronic skin conditions and post-procedure care.

Collaboration and Documentation

  • Collaborate closely with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans in compliance with regulatory standards.

Administrative and Compliance Tasks

  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all medical, ethical, and legal standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
  • State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Previous experience in dermatology or related fields preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in dermatology.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $120,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
