Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis
Position Summary:A Dermatology Physician Assistant (PA) works under the supervision of a board-certified dermatologist to provide comprehensive care for patients with skin, hair, and nail conditions. The PA is responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, and patient education, ensuring high-quality dermatological care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including taking medical histories and performing physical exams, such as skin cancer screenings.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of dermatological conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and skin cancers.
Treatment Planning and Implementation
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, which may include prescribing medications, recommending skincare regimens, and performing in-office procedures like biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and laser therapy.
- Administer and monitor treatments, including topical, oral, and injectable medications.
Procedures
- Perform minor surgical procedures such as mole removals, cyst excisions, biopsies, and wound care.
- Assist in more complex dermatologic surgeries under physician supervision, including Mohs surgery.
Patient Education and Preventive Care
- Educate patients and families on skin health, disease prevention, sun protection, and self-examination techniques.
- Provide guidance for managing chronic skin conditions and post-procedure care.
Collaboration and Documentation
- Collaborate closely with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans in compliance with regulatory standards.
Administrative and Compliance Tasks
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all medical, ethical, and legal standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
- State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Previous experience in dermatology or related fields preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in dermatology.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $120,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
