Full Job Description
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is currently looking for a full-time and/or per diem physician assistant at Flushing Hospital Medical Center.
As a Physician Assistant in our Orthopedic Department, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including medicine, pre-op and post-op responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will work under direct supervision of the responsible Attending. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Assist with surgical procedures, as well as diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections.
- Perform initial and follow up evaluations, either independently or in conjunction with the physician.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in morning rounds with the team.
- Ordering and evaluating x-rays, MRI’s and CT’s.
- Documenting hospital encounter notes.
- Performing joint aspirations and injections.
- Casting and splinting.
- Prescribing medications appropriately and managing prescription refill requests.
- Ordering and monitoring physical and/or occupational therapeutic services.
- Responding to patient phone calls to facilitate patient care delivery.
- Educating patients and family on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
- Closing wounds.
- Responding to all consultations and pages in a timely manner.
- Writing post-operative orders and dictating discharge summaries.
- Completing all necessary paperwork for the billing of services.
- Obtaining/maintaining hospital privileges at all hospitals where a practice physician has privileges.
Current shifts available: DAY SHIFT [3 DAYS A WEEK] 6A-7PNeeds to be able to work weekend shifts, when necessary
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $120,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
