Physician Assistant – Inpatient Internal MedicineSchedule: Night Shift (11:00 PM–7:30 PM)Compensation: $73.28–$89.69 per hour, based on experienceEmployment Type: Union Position

A community-focused hospital serving the Rockaways and Five Towns is expanding its inpatient internal medicine team and seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to support high-quality care for a diverse patient population. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a mission-driven environment with strong clinical support.

Role Overview:

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and management for new admissions and established inpatients.
  • Perform histories, physical exams, form diagnostic impressions, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies within scope and guidelines.
  • Manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including respiratory failure, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, diabetes, and renal disorders.
  • Perform bedside procedures as credentialed (such as venipuncture, ABG draws, NG tube placement, and wound care).

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with attending physicians, hospitalists, nurses, case managers, and specialists.
  • Participate in rounds, hand-offs, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provide clear and timely updates to patients and families.

Documentation & Care Quality:

  • Maintain accurate electronic documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Support safe transitions of care, including discharge planning and patient education.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
  • Current NCCPA certification and New York State PA license.
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of inpatient experience (internal or hospital medicine preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic skills, sound clinical judgment, and excellent communication.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records.
