We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physician Assistant to join our Palliative Care Department. This role plays a critical part in providing patient- and family-centered care to individuals facing serious illness. You will contribute to the assessment and management of complex symptoms, help facilitate meaningful goals-of-care conversations, and support the needs of patients and their loved ones.
This opportunity will take place at ECMC’s campus and is a full-time 1st shift position Monday-Friday. **Note: We will consider a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for this role** Why Grider Support Services?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess and respond to the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients receiving palliative care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to manage complex symptoms and enhance patient comfort.
- Participate in and lead discussions related to goals of care, advance care planning, and decision-making support.
- Coordinate care plans and ensure continuity across settings.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes thoroughly and accurately. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) of all patient encounters, treatments, and outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans for general medical and surgical conditions, including prescribing medications and therapies. Consider indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other treatments.
- Provide patient and family-centered care that is compassionate and effective.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to keep current with advancements in medical practice, ensuring the provision of high-quality care.
Qualifications
- Masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State of New York
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in Palliative Care, preferred
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Demonstrated excellence in teamwork, communication, and symptom management.
- Ability to work compassionately with patients and families in emotionally sensitive situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required within 90 days of service
