Purpose of Role
Daemen University is searching for a physician assistant to join its team of dedicated and talented PA educators with over 100 years of combined teaching experience. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position to start January 2025.
With its main campus located in Amherst NY, the University offers both undergraduate liberal arts degrees along with accredited graduate programs in the health professions (e.g. PA, MPH, DPT, MSW, ABA). The PA Program graduated its first class in 1998 and has alumni totaling almost 1000 practicing physician assistants.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Physician Assistant team, the Physician Assistant Faculty will be responsible for the following:
Primary responsibilities include academic advising, lecturing in areas of medical expertise, clinical skills instruction, and evaluating the readiness of clinical year students for entry to the profession. Additionally, working along with the program’s leadership team, facilitate and oversee systematic assessment of the clinical curriculum and overall program outcomes as required to demonstrate compliance with the ARC-PA accreditation standards.
Scholarship, professional development, conference attendance, continuing medical education, service on program and college-wide committees, and participation in the selection of applicants during the admissions process is required. Limited clinical practice (maximum of 500 hours per year) as a physician assistant is also required, respected, and supported.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in an applicable field of study
- NCCPA certified physician assistant eligible for licensure as a physician assistant in the State of New York
- Three years of full-time clinical practice experience demonstrating the ability to practice medicine skillfully and with great autonomy as a member of a healthcare team
- A wide breadth and depth of general medical knowledge and diverse clinical practice experiences
- Strong communication (written and verbal), time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team
- Honesty, integrity, and commitment to maintaining high professional standards
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information and interface with students, faculty, staff, and community members with tact and clarity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching (e.g. lectures and skills labs) and serving as a clinical preceptor for PA students
- Proficiency with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data using standard statistical tools and predictive techniques
- Mastery of computer applications, software programs, and social media platforms
- A record of peer-reviewed publication in professional journals
- A record of service to regional, state, or national PA professional organizations

Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:
