UBMD Obstetrics & Gynecology offers complete obstetric and gynecological care for every stage in a woman’s life. Along with our general obstetrics and gynecology services, we specialize in pelvic health, fertility, complex contraception, maternal fetal medicine and pediatric and adolescent gynecology. At two convenient locations in Buffalo and Williamsville, our skilled staff uses state-of-the-art technologies to care for, diagnose, and treat each patient.

We are looking for a FULL TIME Physician Assistant.

Pay range: $90,000 – $100,000 Annually

This position entails the practice of culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed Obstetrics and Gynecological care in a Urogynecology outpatient office setting and participation as a study team member on a postpartum health clinical research project being conducted by the University at Buffalo Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

As a Urogynecological Physician Assistant you will provide comprehensive healthcare services to women, focusing on urogynecological conditions. Your role will involve conducting examinations, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, performing routine screenings, and offering reproductive health counseling. You will also perform examinations and procedures specific to urogynecology.

As part of the research team, you will perform telemedicine visits with study participants specifically managing chronic and postpartum hypertension and screening for and treatment of postpartum mental health disorders in collaboration with the principal investigator and/or co-investigator from the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Research duties include:

● Evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of chronic and postpartum hypertension using study protocol guidelines.

● Administration of mental health assessments with treatment of acute postpartum mental health disorders and postpartum exacerbation of chronic mental health disorders with guidance from Project Teach.

● Thorough documentation of all patient encounters

● Culturally sensitive, trauma-informed communication with study participants via a telemedicine platform regarding diagnosis and treatment plans.

● Play an active role as a member of the study team and attend research meetings.

● Completion of trauma-informed care training.

● Completion of CITI training required for the conduction of human subject research.

Outpatient Clinical Duties include:

● Comprehensive office visits.

● Postoperative visit checks.

● Attendance in the operating room to observe surgical procedures.

● Management of uncomplicated pessary checks.

● Management of clinical in-basket which includes but is not limited to:

○ Treatment of bladder and vaginal infections

○ Medication refill requests

○ Review of labs and clinical studies identifying abnormal findings

● Performance of urodynamic procedures following comprehensive training.

● Assistance with minor office procedures

● General office duties

○ Assistance with review and management of clinic schedules

○ Manage and maintain patient educational materials

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies with three years of experience providing patient care in an outpatient setting OR;
  • Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program with NCCPA certification and licensed to practice in New York State. At least two years of experience providing patient care in an outpatient setting, including clinical rotations.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Three years of experience in providing patient care in women’s health.

2. Experience providing care via telemedicine.
