Physician Assistant – Surgery Department
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is recruiting a Physician Assistant to join its Surgery Department team. The Surgical Physician Assistant plays a crucial part in assisting the physicians with the successful execution of surgical procedures, patient care, and postoperative management. This demanding yet highly rewarding position combines advanced medical knowledge, technical expertise, and exceptional patient care skills to support surgeons and ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
Physician Assistants are highly skilled healthcare professionals who work under the supervision of physicians in the Surgery Department. They provide a variety of diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and health maintenance services to surgical patients for pre-operative and post-operative requirements of care. As part of a multidisciplinary medical team, a Surgical PA must possess a diverse set of skills and a deep understanding of surgical practices to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Performs technical patient care, as established by Department of Surgery.
- Performs patient assessments for surgery subspecialty clinics in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Performs ED/Inpatient consults for surgery subspecialties under the supervision of the attending physician.
- Ensures the collection and documentation of admission assessment for all surgical patients.
- Assists with inpatient or outpatient surgical procedures under the direction of the Attending Physician.
- Ensures the completion of a comprehensive patient history and physical examination.
- Performs inpatient rounds under the supervision of the attending physician.
- Performs CPR/BCLS/ACLS protocols.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must possess a current, unrestricted Physician Assistant New York State license.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Seeking both experienced and newly trained providers.
- Must possess active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or be eligible for registration.
- NCCPA certification required.
- Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll.
- BLS or ACLS required.
- Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to make decisions in high pressure situations.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
