Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner for Staten Island and Brooklyn
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with specialization in trigger point injections to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers. This role involves delivering exceptional care to treat pain caused by trigger points, which are tight, tender knots of muscle tissue, ensuring patient satisfaction, and promoting overall wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient assessment and diagnosis:
Conducting comprehensive physical examinations to identify trigger points causing pain in patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
Trigger point injection administration:
Performing trigger point injections using proper technique, including local anesthetic, under ultrasound guidance when necessary.
Pain management education:
Providing patients with information regarding trigger points, self-care strategies, and post-injection care instructions.
Treatment planning:
Collaborating with other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans incorporating trigger point injections alongside other modalities like physical therapy.
Documentation and billing:
Accurately documenting patient encounters, including trigger point locations, injection details, and progress notes, as well as submitting appropriate billing codes.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters in electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner Certificate in New York
Licensure and Certification:
- Current and valid state license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification (NCCPA)-Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioner
- Advanced training in musculoskeletal pain management: Completion of a recognized course or certification in trigger point injections and musculoskeletal pain management.
- Ultrasound proficiency (preferred): Expertise in using ultrasound imaging to guide trigger point injections.
- Strong clinical skills: Ability to perform thorough physical examinations, accurately diagnose trigger points, and administer injections safely.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in trigger point injections
- Demonstrated expertise in physical examinations, accurately diagnose trigger points and administer injections safely, musculoskeletal pain management, and Ultrasound
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in diagnosing trigger points.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Per Diem
Pay: $65 per hour
