Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality mental health care to patients in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments. You will work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, and ongoing patient management. Your expertise in clinical practices and strong communication skills will be essential in enhancing patient outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations of patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Provide medication management, including administration of injections and monitoring of side effects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Perform triage and acute pain management as needed.
- Document patient interactions accurately in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Participate in clinical research and data collection to improve treatment protocols.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Engage in telehealth consultations when appropriate to enhance accessibility for patients.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a valid state license.
- At least 1 year of Experience in psychiatric care; familiarity with acute care settings is a plus.
- Proficiency in EMR systems, including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and documentation standards.
- Skills in patient assessment, physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration.
- Experience with critical care management, including ventilator support and airway management is desirable.
- Familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine practices is beneficial.
- Strong ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and manage complex cases involving geriatrics, pediatrics, or addiction counseling.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Pay: $110,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
