Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psych Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with physicians in Behavioral Health & Primary Care and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of medical practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations assisting in Psych.
- Administer medications and perform procedures such as catheterization as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and treatment options.
- Document patient care activities accurately in medical records, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards.
- Assist in urgent care situations, providing timely interventions for acute conditions.
- Participate in pain management strategies, working closely with patients to alleviate discomfort.
- Engage in hospice palliative medicine practices, focusing on improving the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses.
- Manage durable medical equipment (DME) needs for patients, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or a related field.
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and state licensure.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as familiarity with medical office systems.
- Experience in medication administration and catheterization preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices is advantageous.
- Experience in urgent care or pain management settings is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
