The Physician Assistant is to be considered an Allied Health Professional. His/Her responsibilities will be to assist the physician in the performance of his health care duties within the hospital/office setting. At times, with the approval and under the direction of a physician, the Physician Assistant will be permitted to assume a portion of the duties and responsibilities of the physician, as if the physician were performing them himself. The Physician Assistant is responsible for assisting the physicians during scheduled surgery and office calls. In the event that the physician will be late for office call, the PA will screen the patients and where possible will administer appropriate care. All technical questions, which are not of routine nature, will be reserved for the physician. To assist in the clinical care of surgical patient from admission and discharge by performing higher level clinical duties as well as performing and directing complex diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Elicit a detailed and accurate history and perform a physical examination of the patients.
- Formulate a treatment plan.
- Perform and adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Bronx Care Health System any procedures as credentialed to perform.
- Assess the clinical situation, derive a preliminary differential diagnosis,and initiate the proper sequenced of interventions or enlist guidance from the senior resident staff or attending physician.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required Master’s Degree Preferred.
- Physician Assistant Certification.
