Position Overview
A leading orthopedic practice is seeking a Physician Assistant to support a high-volume hip and knee reconstruction service. This role is primarily outpatient-focused with dedicated time assisting in the operating room. The Physician Assistant will support an experienced orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee procedures, delivering high-quality patient care throughout the surgical continuum.
This position requires travel between multiple clinical sites across Manhattan, Westchester County, and Northern New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain, document, and interpret comprehensive patient histories and physical exams
- Evaluate patients, establish diagnoses, and develop treatment plans
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory studies and imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT)
- Provide care for established and post-operative patients
- Administer therapeutic injections and perform minor procedures
- Assist in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative surgical care
- Support operating room procedures, including patient positioning, retractor placement, and maintaining surgical flow
- Perform patient education, including surgical preparation and post-op care instructions
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, coordinators, residents, fellows, and scheduling teams
- Triage patient calls, manage prescriptions, and document care appropriately
- Complete disability and insurance documentation
- Maintain surgical logs and assist with clinical documentation
- Participate in clinical research and educational initiatives as assigned
- Successfully complete EHR system training (EPIC)
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current New York State Physician Assistant license
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Reliable transportation for travel between multiple office locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Prior orthopedic surgery experience, particularly in hip and knee reconstruction
- Experience in both outpatient clinical and operating room environments
- Spanish fluency a plus
Pay: $135,000.00 – $145,000.00 per year
License/Certification:
- PA-C (Required)
- BLS Certification (Required)
- ACLS Certification (Required)
