Nurse Practitioner Job Description

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, focusing on senior care and home care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, triage processes, and familiarity with workers’ compensation law. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient management, particularly for those with complex needs such as dementia care.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and evaluations to determine health status and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, particularly in senior care and home care environments.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, interpret results, and make informed decisions regarding patient treatment.
  • Provide triage services to prioritize patient needs effectively.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a Level II Trauma Center or hospital medicine setting to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate medical records using Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and treatment options.
  • Stay updated on ICD-9 coding practices to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
  • Experience in senior care, home care, or related fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation law is a plus.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and familiarity with ICD-9 coding.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to diverse populations.

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
