Full Job Description
Primary Care of WNY uses a team-based model that provides continuity for the care and treatment of our patients. Each PCP works with one or more Advanced Practice Providers. Our APPs are Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners have completed training at an accredited college or university and maintain their licensing and continuing medical education. Under the supervision of an Attending Physician, our APPs manage ongoing patient care and help to improve patient outcomes.
Duties/Responsibilities: The PA will be responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients under the supervision of an attending physician. The supervising physician will delegate any tasks which the PA is appropriately trained and qualified to perform and that are routinely performed within the normal scope of the physician’s practice. The PA will serve to complement the work of the physicians. Duties will include by not necessarily be limited to the following:
Evaluation – initially approaching a patient of any age group in any setting to elicit a detailed and accurate history, perform an appropriate physical examination, delineate problems and record and present data
Monitoring – assisting the physician in conducting rounds in acute settings, providing care in office-based care settings, developing and implementing patient management plans and recording progress notes
Diagnostics– ordering common laboratory, radiological, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes which are interpreted by the supervising physicians.
Therapeutics– performing routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infections or by trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illnesses and injuries and taking the initiative in performing the evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life threatening situations
Counseling – instructing and counseling patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems or daily living and health maintenance
Referral – facilitating the referral of patients to other health related professionals and community health and social service agencies when appropriate
Administrative – assist physician(s) with maintaining their dashboard duties paperwork and be available to respond to calls from referring physicians. Assist nursing with the triage function at the direction of the partnership. Available to see a patient on an emergent basis if the need arises. Will be responsible to maintain their own dashboard work during days off unless coverage is arranged and communicated to the practice.
Requirements for Employment as Physician Assistant:
● Graduate of a qualified PA training program with applicable references
● NCCPA Certification and New York State licensure
● Maintains certification and licensing while employed with PCWNY
● Must attain necessary provider billing numbers and DEA
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $97,000.00 – $102,000.00 per year
