Full Job Description

Cerfitied Nurse Practitioner/Medical Provider/Physician AssistantNew Mexico Wellness, Taos, NM, seeks a certified nurse practitioner to work in a collaborative environment with a team of therapists and health care practitioners. We provide our clients with a safe, nurturing environment where they are typically on-site for 90 days or more. The chosen Certified Nurse Practitioner will provide an important range of services as part of a wholistic approach to client care.

Certified Nurse Practitioner candidates MUST be licensed and credentialed in the State of New Mexico with MEDICAID. Credentialed with Presbyterian, United Healthcare, Molina and Tri West MEDICAID through both MCO’s ‘Physical Health’ divisions (as opposed to their ‘Behavioral Health divisions) is a plus and will ultimately be required.

Compensation, Schedule

Hourly pay will be $80 to $90 commensurate with experience. Schedule is 2 to 2.5 days weekly on days to be arranged by mutual agreement with management. This could grow into a full-time position.

Key Requirements

You must have a valid and current New Mexico State license to practice medicine.

Medical license and malpractice insurance must be in good standing with the state of New Mexico.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Spanish language skills helpful
  • Must be willing to participate in pre-employment screening and drug screen.

Preference will be given to applicants who are credentialed with: Presbyterian/Medicaid

Core Competencies:

Needs of Person Served: Understands Substance Use Disorders. Recognizes the complex context of substance abuse. Understands co-occurring Mental Health disorders and impact on treatment. Practices with a cultural competence approach to individuals.

Clinical Skills Needed for Position: Knowledge of general medical conditions, able to discuss courses and prognosis. Ability to utilize health care delivery systems, including patient and family counseling. Utilizes evidence based practice. Has a working knowledge of the application of ethical principles in delivering medical care.

Position Duties:

Review patients’ medical history and collect additional information from family members and psychologists as needed.

Evaluate patients’ physical, emotional, behavioral and mental state through discussion, observation, laboratory testing and analysis recognizing and addressing physical, mental and emotional risk factors.

Provide medial care to clients receiving treatment. This care will include primary medical and preventative care.

Order lab tests and interpret the test results.

Respond to patients’ medical problems by referring to their history, carrying out diagnosis, treatment, counseling and referral, where necessary.

Provides oversight to the Medical Assistant, Allergy Technician and Pharmacy Technician as needed.

Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required.

Research medical issues and new medical treatments to update your knowledge on health care as needed.

Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team approach utilizing and reviewing all Evidence Based Practice models applied and prescribed.
