Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant – Albuquerque, New Mexico

The Presbyterian Vascular Program, a division of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Vascular Surgeon team.

Our Vascular Surgery program is a leader in vascular care in New Mexico. We offer a wide array of services dedicated to the prevention, detection and treatment of vascular disease.

As a highly specialized center for vascular care, our reputation for excellence is built on providing our patients with the most advanced evidenced based treatment. Our rapidly growing program performs over 1000 vascular surgical procedures annually. We perform surgery in two OR hybrid suites as well as a hybrid suite in our Cardiovascular lab. We manage ICAVL accredited peripheral vascular lab as well.

Our Vascular Department offers patients all aspects of vascular diagnostics, open repair, and endovascular intervention.

Summary:Assists surgeons during vascular procedures/surgeries. Post procedure/operatively rounds on patients and manages patient care. Provides patient assessment/follow up in Vascular Clinic.

Responsibilities:

· Assists surgeons with inpatient and outpatient procedures and major surgery

· Order and interpret lab and radiology results and formulate a medical plan of care according to protocols. Daily medical management of inpatients in collaboration with physician.

· Round on hospitalized patients

· Performs admission history and physicals

· Performs discharge planning functions, family case conferences and dictates discharge summaries

· Coordinate patient care and follow-up for vascular patients on the vascular service

· Coordinate with OR and CVL to ensure proper equipment and supplies are available for surgical cases

· Sees and evaluate new patients and completes history and physical exams and consultations in collaboration with physician

· Presents patient to surgeons and assists in formulating a treatment plan, ordering appropriate lab and radiographic studies and performs office procedures; such as suture & staple removal, superficial wound debridement

· Evaluate postoperative patients and routine follow up visits

· Review vascular and venous studies with patients and physicians to formulate a treatment plan

· Review MRA and CT scans with physician to formulate a treatment plan

· Coordinate surgical scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency in surgeon’s schedule

· Performs other functions as required.

· Cardiology and/or Vascular Surgery experience preferred

· Outstanding patient care qualities, highly motivated with an interest to grow their practice

· Patient-focused and willing to collaborate and work in a team environment

· Ability to obtain a medical license to practice in the state of New Mexico

Pay: $149,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
