Full Job Description

The Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) will work closely with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of orthopedic conditions. This role involves evaluating patients, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and assisting with surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial patient evaluations, including taking medical histories and conducting physical exams.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care and patient education.
  • Manage orthopedic conditions, such as fractures, sprains, and joint disorders.
  • Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, including preparing the operating room and providing intraoperative support.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures, such as casting, splinting, and injections.
  • Monitor and manage patient progress and recovery, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  • Prescribe medications and provide counseling on medication management.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in patient rounds and contribute to case discussions and decision-making.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with medical protocols, safety standards, and legal regulations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of orthopedic protocols and procedures.

Education and Training:

  • Stay current with advancements in orthopedic medicine and surgical techniques through continuing education and professional development.
  • Provide education and training to patients on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and wellness.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Certification: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Experience: Previous experience in orthopedic medicine or surgery preferred, but not required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, proficiency in orthopedic procedures, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to patient care.
  • Capability to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Office based: 3-4 days
  • Surgical Center: 1-2 days

Compensation:HIGHLY COMPETETIVE SALARY + Bonus Structure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
