Physician Assistant – Cardiac Surgery – Per Diem

Job Summary: The Physician Assistant functions in a medical support role to the physician in the provision of medical care, and works under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician. Appointment of Physician’s Assistants and the duties and responsibility approved for each appointee are governed by the pertinent sections of the Public Health Law; the Education Law; the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules, Regulations of State of New Jersey; Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws; and policies, rules, regulations of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

The duties for the Physician’s Assistant differ according to assigned areas, and are routinely assigned to work in the Cardiothoracic Operating Room, the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Surgical Floor, and the Cardiac Surgical Step – Down Unit, or nights and weekend duty. Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the Cardiac Surgery Department. Manage staff for optimum performance. Department: Cardiac Surgery Location: Englewood, NJ Status: Per-Diem Shift: Days with call shifts Hours: 7a-5p

Job Essentials:

  • Must possess skillful hands, be able to concentrate for long periods of time, work well under stress and be able to think and react quickly in emergencies.
  • Work requires analytic skills and knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, EKG.
  • Passed national certifying exam administered by the National Admission on Certification of PA’s.
  • BLS & ACLS
  • CME 20 category 1 credits/year total of 50 CME’s from all categories. Education Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved PA program with a bachelor’s degree. License/Certification/Registry:
  • Current NJ license as PA.
