Associate Program Director (APD) Job Responsibilities: Work with program leadership to include the Program Director, Chair and other Program/Associate Program Directors and with the lead Clinical Coordinators to ensure the program provides core knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite to the development of the competencies required for successful completion and safe practice at the time of entry into the profession Coordinate with Program Director/Chair to ensure leadership presence on campus during operational days/hours Provide mentoring to principal and instructional faculty related to teaching, course coordination and assessment Consults with Chair and Program Director on faculty and staff evaluations Oversee, monitor and maintain the curriculum, including mapping, creation of learning outcomes and instructional objectives related to courses Update student manual annually Participation in the identification and recruitment of suitable faculty and staff to be involved in the administrative operations of the program Recruit adjunct faculty. Supervise and recommend curriculum revisions as needed Supervise the calendar for all curricular activities Work with the Program Director to develop, provide or identify appropriate faculty development opportunities Support the program in meeting accreditation requirements Encourage educational research and state/national presentations by faculty Track performance of students during the didactic phase Provide oversight and guidance to course coordinators Recommend and implement revisions to program policies and procedures related to the program’s didactic curriculum Assist with the development of short- and long-range strategic plans Ensures program maintains alignment with accreditation standards Help to organize and implement program and faculty retreats Serves on departmental committees as required Facilitate and ensure open communication, discussion and collaboration within the program and between PD, faculty, students and staff Liaison with other University departments such as Registrar, Enrollment Management, Counseling Services, Health Services etc. as needed Oversee, manage and troubleshoot day-to-day events in the program including faculty, student, staff, space and technology issues â¿¿ informing or involving the PD as needed Oversees program management and function in Program Directors absence The Associate Program Director role is a stipend position occupied by a full-time faculty member who has a minimum of five years teaching experience and leadership responsibilities in a Physician Assistant program. In addition, the individual should have three years clinical practice experience. Faculty must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated consistency in: interpersonal, leadership, and management skills.
