Physician Assistant/ PA for Emergency Room / ED/ ER/EM in White Plains Hospital, 25 miles from Manhattan
Department: Emergency DepartmentSchedule: Per Diem( must commit to at least 2 shifts a month)Shift: Varied / 12 hours
Start Date: 60- 90 days from signing contract
WHITE PLAINS HOSPITAL a 292 bed, leading award-winning Magnet hospital, located 25 miles north of Manhattan, NY in Westchester county is looking for experienced Per Diem Physician Assistant/PA for our expanding program.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Medicine, provides medical care to patients in the Emergency Department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluates and treats patients presenting themselves for care in the Emergency Department.
- Evaluates and treats patients throughout the hospital in consultation with their attending physician when called by the nursing staff.
- Consults with private physicians concerning their patients in the Emergency Department and advises them concerning the need for admission of their patients to the hospital.
- Institutes immediate intervention in life or disability-threatening emergencies.
- Is responsible for the safety of patients in the department in the absence of their private physician.
- Documents evaluation of and treatment given to all patients in the Emergency Department medical record. Provides each patient with discharge instructions, both oral and written.
- Works assigned shifts and does not leave the Emergency Department except to respond to cardiac arrests or emergency calls from the inpatient units unless relieved by another Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Emergency Physician.
Education, Training, Licensure and Experience Requirements
- Current New York State Registration as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current White Plains Hospital Center Collaborating Physician Certification Form Agreement.
- Minimum two (2) years experience as a Physician Assistant in a similar ED setting.
- Current ACLS, PALS and BLS Certification.
- Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills listed in the delineation of privileges for Emergency Department Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of 50 hours of approved CME annually.
