Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $144,638.95 – $161,626.45. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

Ambulatory Surgery – Second Assist

Overview:

We are currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to be an integral member of our Ambulatory Surgery department.

Your focus will be – the delivery of the world’s best patient care ! Achieving our mission of improving mobility and quality of life for patients commands excellence every day.

As an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you will support a wide range of surgical and medical care for our diverse patient population. You will complete accurate patient histories and examinations, serve as second assistant to surgeons in the operating room, and order and administer parenteral medicines, bolus doses and transfusions upon request by your supervising physician. Your duties will also entail conducting outpatient evaluations, following up on surgical patients, and ensuring patient safety with assistive devices.

Advanced Practice Provider, APRN or PA Full- Time, Operative

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) is a full-time Operative position. Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) APPs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians and surgeons. Autonomously, and in collaboration with healthcare professionals and other individuals, the APP provides a full range of primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services, including:

This NP or PA position is based at the main hospital in the Upper East Side of Manhattan (New York, NY). This is a full-time position, working 4 shifts a week 7a-5p

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • First or Second assisting in sports and arthroplasty service OR.
  • Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-ray.
  • Prescribing medications and other treatments
  • Managing patients’ overall care developing individualized plan of care

This position requires a motivated APRN or PA who can function autonomously within established practice protocols and a collaborative agreement.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited PA program. Masters preferred. Current NYS Physician Assistant license and registration. NCCPA board certification

  • DEA
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • experience with an EMR (preferably Epic)

or

Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing. Current NYS License as a Nurse Practitioner and RN. Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. RNFA required. For internal candidates: The NP, without an RNFA license, must have 2 years of operating room experience at HSS.

  • DEA
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • experience with an EMR (preferably Epic)

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence others are essential
  • Proactive and outstanding decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work with varied members of the medical team (surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, etc)
