This opportunity will take place at ECMC’s campus and is a full-time position Monday-Friday. There are occasional on call requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examines patients, obtains medical histories, and assesses health status.
  • Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribes medications and treats illnesses.
  • Consults with physician as needed and refers to physician for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of work.
  • Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
  • Triages patient needs and evaluates patient problems.
  • Coordinates appropriate specialty referrals.
  • Counsels patient/family on rehab process/medical issues.
  • Reviews patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports.
  • Documents patient information and care in medical record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • NYS license and is certified through NCCPA.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and roles of physicians and physician assistants. Familiar with medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, evaluating health status including state of wellness, and compliance with care recommendations.
  • Knowledge of diagnosing and treating medical problems and developing care plans.
  • Knowledge of medical records documentation in confidential manner.
  • The ideal candidate would have an interest/experience in assessing and treating individuals with musculoskeletal and neurological injuries and disabilities. This will require obtaining an adequate history and performing a physical examination followed by treatment planning. This may also include ordering tests, appropriate prescription of medication and rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services.

* The pay range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant at the time of posting. When determining pay, several factors will be considered including but not limited to location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, professional credentials, internal equity, and budget.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $106,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
