Seeking a FULL TIME Physician Assistant
Department: Surgery
Reports to: Chief of Surgery
Salary Range: $95,000 – $110,000
Position Summary: The physician assistant promotes and maintains health, especially in patients preparing for or recovering from surgery, by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
Essential Functions:
- Primary job function to evaluate and manage patients in the surgery clinic and surgery private office
- Run list and receive sign out from post call surgery service
- Follow-up on labs, consultations from other services, and diagnostic studies
- Discharge patients from hospital once criteria are met
- Respond to calls from wards regarding patient problems/ changes in status.
- Initial and follow-up visits; present to surgery attending for the clinic that day
- Perform in office procedures as necessary and indicated for outpatients in clinic and office
- Respond to nurse and office staff calls and questions regarding patients.
- Occasionally cover cases when resident surgery staff is unavailable
- Write operative note, postoperative orders, or discharge orders for patients on cases covered
Other Functions:
- Assist physicians and staff to meet compliance requirements
- Participate in continued medical education, and take recertification exams as needed to maintain certification.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant program and certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants
