Full Job Description

The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician.

Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; writing progress notes, procedure notes and monthly care plans, ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.

Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.

The Nephrology PA cares for dialysis patients in Weiler Hospital and also a various off-site outpatient dialysis units. The PA may also be asked to help out with patients on the Weiler ESRD and/or consult services. The Nephrology PA writes orders for hemodialysis procedures numerous times each day. Performing these invasive and non-invasive procedures is a critical component of the job of the Nephrology PA.

The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, and outpatient hemodialysis units. THIS POSITION REQUIRES TRAVELING TO MULTIPLE LOCATIONS including

Moses Campus, Fresenius Freedom Center, Fresenius Eastchester, Riverdale Dialysis Center, Kings Harbor, Bedford Park Dialysis Center , Fresenius Morris Park, Williamsbridge Home Dialysis Center, West Farm Dialysis Center, Allerton Dialysis Center, Laconia Dialysis Center, Morningside Dialysis Center.

In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs, will request validation to perform department specific skills.

  • Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State
  • NCCPA certified
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 6 Months experience required
