Job Posting Summary

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy College is seeking candidates for a full-time, multiple year track instructor or assistant professor position in the Physician Assistant Studies Program. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Teaching/coordinating didactic courses
  • Providing logistical and technical coordination and accountability for a state-of-the-art simulation lab and simulation instruction across the curriculum
  • Incorporating best practices and evidenced-based research in program development with a focus on simulation across the healthcare continuum
  • In collaboration with faculty, assisting in the development and implementation of curricula for simulation experiences embedded across the physician assistant curriculum to support course and department outcomes
  • Aand academic counseling
  • Participating in evaluation, development, implementation and improvement of program curriculum
  • Contributing to the ongoing self-assessment
  • Participating in scholarly and service activities

Faculty serve on college-wide and school-specific faculty committees and participate in professional development activities. Physician Assistant Program faculty members are required to participate in the Program’s community-based Mobile Health Vehicle Initiative. Candidates with teaching experience should be familiar with the innovative use of technology in the classroom. Candidates must have a commitment to working in a multicultural setting. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Prior teaching experience in a Physician Assistant Program or medical school
  • Innovative use of educational technology
  • Experience in healthcare simulation as an educator or simulation technician, preferred.
