Job Overview:
Neonatal PA. The PA is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physicians. The PA provides primary health care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. In addition, the PA is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. Damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
Qualifications:
- Valid license/certificate as a Physician Assistant in the State of NJ required
- 3 years of Physician Assistant experience preferred
- Current New Jersey Physician Assistant license required
- Current DEA license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
Scheduling:
- Per Diem
- Night Shift
Essential Functions:
- Attend normal deliveries and C/sections.
- Round in NICUs at NBI CHONJ and Trinitas regional medical center.
- Provide 24/7 inhouse calls at NICUS at CHONJ -NBI and Trinitas regional medical center.
- Perform placements of umbilical arterial and venous lines , chest tubes, perform intubations, lumbar punctures, blood drawing, surfactant replacement.,
- Writing orders, updating parents
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical history. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting the test results
- Consults with colleagues, supervising Physicians, specialists, and other health professionals as appropriate.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
- Prescribes medications and other therapeutic equipment and and supplies under the supervision of a licensed Physician within scope of practice and area of specialty.
- May assist in surgery and provide education to patients & families.
- Provides case management services for patients, including completion of required forms and disability applications within prescribed timeframe of the practice.
- Follows established safety and infection control procedures. Intervenes in unsafe situations.
- Adheres to all Federal Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPPA) regulations
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participates in professional societies.
