Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Physician Assistant Studies Program is seeking a motivated individual to support the curricular and operations functions of the program as an Administrative Assistant 3. ***This position does not offer layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.***
This position is located at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Redfield Campus and is student and public facing and based in office full-time. The Administrative Assistant 3 provides course and curricular support to the program with focus on the clinical phase, including working in digital programs to support students in the clinical year, room scheduling, instructor correspondence and collection of materials, clerical duties, records maintenance, committee staffing and summaries, exam proctoring and classroom set-up, and will use multiple electronic systems including Qualtrics, EXXAT, Canvas, and Microsoft Suite. The Administrative Assistant 3 will provide day-to-day program and operations support, including but not limited to purchase orders, office supply orders, supply room management, and other duties as assigned. This position functions as the receptionist for the program greeting in-person visitors and students.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, ability to work independently, navigate and meet competing deadlines, maintain confidentiality of program and student information, and engage with colleagues as a member of an integrated program team.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $22.13/hr. – Step 03 $24.02/hr.)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
