Job description
The OB/GYN PA uses their knowledge and skills to provide a broad range of health care services to women in the outpatient setting. This includes obstetric assessments and prenatal care, routine gynecologic examinations, contraceptive counseling, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prescription and monitoring, and evaluation and management of common gynecologic complaints. Depending on practitioner interest and training, it may also include performance of office ultrasound, IUD insertion, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy and other similar office procedures. The PA is a strong member of the clinician team including the obstetrician/gynecologists, RNs, medical assistants and other involved staff. The focus on teamwork and quality performance help to enhance the care that we collectively provide.
Essential Job Functions:
· Provides comprehensive direct care for VMSN patients including examining patients, providing education, ordering and reviewing lab and radiology reports.
· Prescribes appropriate medical treatment and clinical medications consistent with Medical Standards for patients and orders studies, tests, and ancillary care services as required
· Consults/collaborates with VMSN Physician as needed regarding patientcare, assessment, and education issues in patients with complicated medical conditions.
· Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the VMSN clinic.
· Identify high-risk pregnancies and creates medically appropriate referrals
· Provides prenatal care, including parenting classes, clinical exams, and screenings
· Provide post-natal care, including counseling and advice on breastfeeding
· Teach new and expectant mothers how to care for their babies
· Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by discussion and/or providing materials and resources to the patients and families
· Follows all established rules and guidelines of evidence-based care and best clinical practice and adheres to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
· Documents patient information per VMSN policies and procedures.
· Communicates with patients over the phone regarding labs, diagnostics/imaging, medications, and specialist referrals as needed.
· Provides patient education regarding diagnosis, medications, treatment, and medical procedures.
· Provides routine office injections SQ, IM, or Intraarticular as per standards of care for primary care providers and VMSN care standards.
· Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines, regulations and HIPAA.
· Assists Medical Director with grant writing and quarterly grant reporting
· Develops, implements, refines, and oversees educational classes for volunteers and staff to assure quality care of our patients.
· Develops and maintains structure at VMSN, fostering a positive, team atmosphere between staff, volunteers and students.
· Provides quality, fair treatment of all patients.
· Develop individual care programs
· Responsible for the directing of clinical staff, as appropriate.
· Work as a team and communicate effectively with other staff members and volunteers.
· Build rapport with patients/families.
· Maintain confidentiality of patients and VMSN records.
· Actively promotes VMSN in the community and drive philanthropy efforts.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
· Active and unrestricted Nevada State license as an PA
· Current CPR Certification
· Maintains any clinical certifications required.
· Preferred 2-5 years of professional clinical experience
· Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
· Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Working knowledge of computers including Windows and Microsoft Office.
· Follow written policies and procedures as established by the Medical and Nursing Directors.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish both spoken and written preferred.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $51.00 – $61.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
