Job SummaryThe Physician Assistant (PA) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services. This position involves providing comprehensive Psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in an independent outpatient Clinic. The PA collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and is responsible for managing complex health issues while promoting wellness and preventive care.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain an independent office schedule and care for new patients and new problems.
- Participate in communication with the clinic and public relations programs. Attend office meetings and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude and approach with patients while ensuring confidentiality of patient and practice information.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality.
- Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Exhibit flexibility in the workplace and take initiative in offering to help other colleagues when needed.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality assessment.
- Responsible for patient assessment and diagnosis through informal conversation, a physical examination, and review of their medical, personal, and drug (including substance abuse) histories. The patient assessment allows APP to make a diagnosis and rule out any underlying medical conditions, such as hyperthyroidism, a brain tumor, or medicine toxicity.
- Oversees patients’ physical and mental health while receiving psychiatric care. Performs regular follow-ups to see how patients are responding to counseling, medication and other therapies; and often works with families to ensure patients are receiving adequate care and support.
- Orders labs, refers to other medical providers, and prescribes psychiatric medications throughout the process.
- Takes an active role in patient education.
- Contributes to team healthcare approach through quality, detailed work, and effective documentation as well as oral communication.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
- Proficient in ICD-10 coding and documentation practices.
- PA certification and Nebraska License required.
- Ideal candidate must be able to thrive in fast-paced environment where quality patient care is essential.
- Knowledgeable in psychopharmacology: the study of indications, actions, risks, and side effects of psychiatric drugs used independently and in combination with other psychiatric drugs.
- Psychiatry / Mental Health experience preferred, but will train strong candidate.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail oriented, and have an in-depth knowledge of mental health along with the ability to apply concepts.
- Capable of demonstrating professional composure in emergent or stressful situations.
- Committed to maintaining workplace safety.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $59.26 – $65.30 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
