Full Job Description
We’re a commercial subcontractor focused on drywall, framing, and interior systems. We’re looking for a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager who can help keep projects moving and handle the day-to-day coordination that comes with working under multiple general contractors.
This role is built around staying ahead of issues, coordinating across trades, and making sure our scope is executed without delays or rework. You’ll work directly with ownership and field leadership to keep jobs organized and resolve problems before they impact schedule or cost.
⸻
Core Responsibilities
* Manage submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings specific to our scope
* Track procurement and coordinate delivery of materials to align with installation
* Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, and coordination issues early
* Work with general contractors and other trades to resolve field conflicts
* Build, track, and price change orders
* Maintain accurate project logs, drawings, and documentation
* Support scheduling and sequencing of work with the field team
* Visit jobsites regularly to stay aligned with installation progress
* Handle day-to-day coordination so issues don’t escalate
⸻
What We’re Looking For
* 0–8 years of experience in commercial construction (PE, APM, or similar)
* Understanding of how interior systems are built (framing, drywall, ceilings is a plus)
* Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and details
* Organized, responsive, and consistent with follow-up
* Comfortable working directly with GCs, superintendents, and other trades
* Able to manage multiple projects or scopes at once
* Must be able to access Fort Bragg, NC without sponsorship
* Must not require H1-B visa sponsorship
Preferred:
* Experience working for a subcontractor (not just a GC)
* Familiarity with submittals, RFIs, and change order processes
* Exposure to federal or military projects (Ft. Bragg)
* Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers requirements
* Bluebeam, Excel, or Procore experience
⸻
Compensation
* $60,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
* Bonus potential tied to performance
* Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement
* Clear path to Project Manager
⸻
What Success Looks Like
* Our scope is coordinated properly before work starts
* Materials arrive when needed and installs aren’t delayed
* Conflicts with other trades are addressed early, not in the field
* Change orders are captured and priced correctly
* Issues are handled at your level without constant escalation
⸻
Work Environment
* Combination of office and active jobsites
* Direct interaction with field crews, superintendents, and GCs
* Fast-moving projects with multiple stakeholders
⸻
