Job Title: CMA/RMA – Durham
Overview:
Join our dedicated healthcare team in Durham as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Information Management: Accurately obtain and record patient information in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Specimen Collection: Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory tests, including performing phlebotomy.
- Electrocardiograms: Conduct EKGs, ensuring quality and accuracy in patient diagnostics.
- Procedure Preparation: Assist in preparing for in-office procedures, such as the removal of permanent catheters, and schedule patient procedures at external facilities, handling all related paperwork and prior authorizations as necessary.
- Daily Records Management: Organize and prepare patient records for the next day’s appointments, including those for dialysis, hospital visits, and pre-operative care.
- Patient Communication: Contact patients as directed by physicians, delivering vital information and guidance.
- Support to Physicians: Provide general assistance to physicians during examinations and procedures, enhancing the overall patient experience.
- Lab and Quality Assurance Maintenance: Maintain lab logs and refrigerator temperature logs; ensure adherence to quality assurance protocols for equipment such as Clinitek and glucometers.
- Clinical Environment Management: Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms and lab areas, preparing labs for after-hours pickups, and manage disposal of sharps and expired medications.
- Medication Administration: Administer various types of medications including IM, SQ, ID, and IV, ensuring compliance with healthcare protocols.
- Record Keeping: Manage patient records effectively, including scanning, filing, and entering data into EMR as needed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date information for referrals, pharmacies, and patient diagnoses.
- Additional Duties: Carry out miscellaneous tasks as requested by healthcare leadership to support the smooth running of our operations.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must possess a valid CMA or RMA certification.
- Experience: Prior experience in a medical office setting preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMR systems; familiarity with lab equipment is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organization: Strong ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a busy clinical environment.

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
