Job Description

The University of Missouri’s School of Medicine, Department of Neurology is expanding and searching for a full-time Physician Assistant join our growing Neurology inpatient services. This is an excellent career opportunity for candidates just starting their careers, as well as experienced candidates to join a thriving academic neurology department. As a Comprehensive Stroke Center and premier referral hub for the surrounding 22 counties and beyond, we offer a rich array of challenging and exciting cases. Working alongside residents and attending physicians, we foster a team-based approach to patient care with thriving clinical and educational opportunities.

Job Details:

  • Our team is comprised of 20 neurologists, 14 neuroscientists, and several advanced practice providers
  • Responsibilities:

o Work independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide care to neurological patients in an inpatient setting. o Communicate with physicians about changes in patients’ clinical conditions, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. o Respond quickly and accurately to changes of conditions. o Perform treatments and interventions; conduct teaching and counseling of patients and families; and facilitate clinical research. o Also requires basic computer skills; problem solving, willingness and ability to learn new skills and methods; ability to perform the range of duties in a variety of work settings.

  • As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department’s facilities include:

o A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU o 30-bed Neurosciences ICU o AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status o Level IV Epilepsy program o Comprehensive Stroke Center o MDA/ALS clinics o An accredited Sleep Program o First Adult Certified Duchenne Care Center by PPMD.

Hours will vary.

Minimum Qualifications

Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $90,251.20 – $110,000 Grade: PAT-012 University Title: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE Internal applicants can determine their university title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
