Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care or Physician Assistant Specialty Care will work collaboratively with surgeons and physicians in the Comprehensive Weight Management and Metabolic Program at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, assisting in a multidisciplinary practice for the treatment of obesity through both bariatric surgical intervention and medically supervised weight loss programs.

Assist in the organization and clinical processes of the Comprehensive Weight Management and Metabolic Institute at Capital Regional Medical Center by:

Performing essential patient care functions, which support and expand bariatric care practice.

Diagnose and treat bariatric surgical patients in the clinic. Assist in the evaluation and assessment of potential bariatric surgical candidates.

Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians.

Serve as a patient advocate and assist in the process of bariatric and weight loss patient education.

Assume a leadership role in a bariatric clinical specialty by facilitating professional and community activities related to bariatric surgery.

Assist in the identification of trends related to bariatric patients and participates in quality improvement activities.

Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.

Actively participate in clinical and surgical bariatric research, as needed.

Participate in inpatient care of bariatric service patients.

Participate as an assistant in the operating room for Bariatric & General Surgery operations.

Perform outpatient gastric restrictive device adjustments.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

NURSE PRACTITIONER – SPECIALTY CARE (6435) Master of Science in Nursing degree. Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. Must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri Board of Nursing.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE (6804) Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree is required.

Required Licensure or Certification.

NP Candidates must possess graduation certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program. May possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing

Physician Assistant Candidates must possess graduation certificate from an AMA accredited physician assistant program, including national certification, as a physician assistant by the NCCPA is required. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant or eligible to be licensed.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,251 – $147,285 annually Grade: PAT – 012 University Title: NURSE PRACTITIONER – SPECIALTY CARE (6435) -or- PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE (6804) Internal applicants can determine their university title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
