Position Summary:

Join our nationally recognized Heart and Vascular Institute as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in our new Cardiology Training Program—an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant seeking to build deep expertise in cardiovascular care. This structured program is designed to prepare APPs for advanced practice in cardiology through a combination of hands-on clinical experience, didactic learning, and direct mentorship from our team of leading cardiologists. After successful completion of the training, you will continue to work as an expert in Cardiology as an Advanced Practice Provider within our Cardiology department.

Program Details:

  • 6-Month Structured Training Period: Participate in an immersive, full-time cardiology training curriculum covering a broad spectrum of cardiovascular care, including inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, interventional, and heart failure services.
  • Ongoing Clinical Development: Following the initial training period, APPs will continue to practice under the supervision and mentorship of our cardiologists, gradually assuming greater clinical responsibility as confidence and proficiency grow.
  • Certification Support: APPs will be eligible to take the Certified Cardiology Knowledge Exam after one year. We provide support and preparation resources to ensure success on the certification exam. Passing of Exam is required. The timeframe of exam date may be flexible but required to pass by the end of year two.
  • Long-Term Role: Upon successful completion of the program and certification, APPs will transition to a permanent role within our Heart and Vascular Institute, working collaboratively with our cardiovascular team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

  • Nursing Degree, Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri, certified by the American Nurses Association as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner or licensed and certified by the NCCPA and licensed in the state of Missouri.
  • Strong interest in cardiovascular medicine and commitment to completing a structured training program
  • Excellent communication, clinical, and critical thinking skills
