Full Job Description

Woodland Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is vital to providing high-quality care for patients in their recovery journey. The PA will work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans for individuals facing substance use disorders and associated health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history taking, physical exams, and mental health assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Prescribe medications, including MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment), and adjust as necessary within the scope of practice.
  • Provide counseling on lifestyle changes, relapse prevention, and chronic disease management.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed to support recovery goals.
  • Collaborate with therapists and case managers to address the medical and psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with all regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and support acute care situations when necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about recovery processes, potential challenges, and available resources.
  • Stay current on best practices and emerging treatments in addiction medicine.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Licensure: Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of Mississippi.
  • Certification: National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of clinical experience (preferred experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or primary care).
    • Knowledge of MAT protocols and addiction treatment models is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment.
    • Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient care.
    • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
