JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant
LOCATION OR DEPARTMENT: Clinic and Hospital
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations/Radiologist
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
SUMMARY OF POSITION: A dynamic role focused on performing a wide variety of procedures according to established protocols with the major goal to provide quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Evaluate the days schedule of procedures. Independently perform procedures under the guidance, supervision and discretion of the supervising physician. Evaluate and review medical reports and images, prepare and sign off on technical reports. Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient. Participate in patient management, including prescriptive powers for acquisition of additional imaging procedures, following review with the supervising physician. Administer and/or order intravenous medications and contrast media, under the supervision of a physician. Dependable consistently at work and on time. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree preferred. 3 years healthcare experience preferred. Experience in a radiology setting a plus. Physician Assistant certification (PA-C) required and must be maintained in good standing. MN Physician Assistant licensure required and must be maintained in good standing DEA registration required and must be maintained in good standing, if applicable. BLS and ACLS certification required. Knowledge of Physician Assistant principles, procedures, methods and techniques required. Specifically, the ability to apply procedure-based training techniques to become an independent proceduralist with minimal supervision. Excellent patient care, problem solving, organizational, communication and technical skills required. Ability to work independently, in a team, and with all levels of the organization required. Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative required. Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure a safe work environment. Must be competent in using a computer keyboard, email, dictation, EPIC, and PACS or similar applications/systems.
DAILY PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Requires a full range of body motion including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, gripping, twisting, turning and repetitive motion; some bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, telephone and other office equipment. Ability to assist patients to walk, sit, stand and move to and from the exam table, wheelchair and/or Hoyer lift.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: High-Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood products, bodily fluids and/or hazardous materials common to a radiology setting. High-Potential exposure to ionizing radiation exams rooms and/or involved in the use of ionizing radiation common to a radiology setting.
