Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) hired into this position will play an integral role across our adult Medical Oncology practice, seeing patients in the Medical Oncology Early Therapeutics and Novel Agents Care team. This Care team focuses on caring for patients receiving cancer directed treatment on a Phase 1 Clinical trial. All solid tumor malignancies are seen in this clinic. This person will be involved in seeing both new and established patients. The NP or PA will participate in screening patients for clinical trials, clinical trial enrollment, and will oversee care on a clinical trial. They will work closely with a team of Medical Oncologists, research nurses, clinical pharmacists, and research coordinators to care for patients. In addition, they will work closely with disease specific care teams, especially through transition of care on or off a clinical trial.

This is a busy and dynamic practice requiring individuals with excellent communication, teamwork, time management, flexibility, and critical thinking skillsets. This requires an individual to demonstrate adaptability, leadership skills and a keen interest in early cancer therapeutics and drug development. There is an opportunity to grow depth of understanding of cancer biomarkers and potentially actionable treatment pathways in this role.

The division is very supportive of professional development opportunities. Once someone has established themselves clinically, we hope to foster interest and professional growth across the research and education shields.
