Responsibilities
An exciting specialty practice opportunity exists for a NP or PA in the Breast Diagnostic Clinic. This section is within the Division of General Internal Medicine, and provides comprehensive evaluation including clinical examination, diagnostic breast imaging, treatment recommendations and surveillance for patients with a variety of both benign and malignant breast conditions.
The Mayo Clinic Breast Diagnostic Clinic is part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary practice, drawing on the collaborative efforts of many specialists involved in the care of patients with breast concerns. Together, the team develops a comprehensive plan to address the patient’s breast issues and provides the patient an individualized recommendation regarding treatment and follow-up care. This practice is unique as the team works in partnership with specialists in breast imaging, breast surgery, plastic surgery, medical oncology, pathology, radiation oncology, medical genetics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and psychology to provide the best possible outcomes and care for individuals with breast issues. This provider will join a provider care-team of several physicians, RN, NP, PA, and CNS providers. Opportunities exist for education and scholarly activity.
This provider may see patients with breast related concerns or complications, including:
- Screening breast exams and review of imaging studies
- Benign breast disease, as well as precancerous lesions
- Breast cancer risk assessment and family history of breast cancer
- Breast symptoms: new breast changes, changes in breast skin, nipple discharge, breast infection and breast pain
- Gynecomastia in men
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP, ANP, or GNP. DNP is preferred.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
This position requires DEA registration and BLS certification.
