Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program required
- At least one year of experience post Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training strongly preferred.
- Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- RNFA certification required for Nurse Practitioner
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 – Multisource required within 180 Days
- Certification as Physician Assistant – NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
- Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required
Physical Demands Medium Work*: Lifting weight Up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently
Additional Job Description:
Surgical assistance is a large portion of this role. Locations you will support include: Shakopee/St. Francis, Lakeville Specialty/ASC, and Abbott Northwestern.
