Principle Responsibilities:

  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Participates in health care team.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree – Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • New graduates may be considered. OR experience or First Assist experience required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed Physician Assistant – MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • Active MN NP/PA license (or ability to obtain)
  • BLS certification required with in 180 days of hire
  • Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for credentialing and hospital privileges.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Physical Demands:

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), Up to 25 lbs. frequently

Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant to join the practice at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and United Hospital in St. Paul.

  • 1.0 FTE
  • Monday – Friday to meet department needs.
  • On call rotation for surgical emergencies.
  • Weekend rotation
  • Average of 2 holidays / year.
