Hennepin Healthcare’s Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) has an opening for a part-time position (.7 FTE with full medical/dental benefits, as well as a number of additional pro-rated benefits, such as PTO and continuing education funds). The APS center serves those in emotional crisis with 24-hour, seven-day-a-week crisis counseling, assessment, and referral. The schedule will rotate and include day/evening/weekend shifts (more to be discussed during a potential interview).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform initial and ongoing assessment of psychiatric and medical needs of clients presenting to APS
- Provide relevant patient and family education
- Assess clients for release of transportation holds
- Assess clients for hospitalization need, if appropriate, place on 72-hour hold
- Order restraints and seclusions, if needed
- Provide psychiatric consultation services to patients housed elsewhere in the hospital
- Formulate appropriate differential diagnoses based on history and physical exam
- Perform face-to-face assessments of clients in restraints or seclusion
- Medication management of both medical issues and psychiatric emergencies
- Perform physician exams on clients prior to transfer to other hospitals
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in Psychiatric care
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or Nursing from an accredited program
- Possession of a valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota
- If NP, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Certification
SALARY Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant pay is based on years since licensure and specialty area. The grid below represents current pay rates (rates adjusted annually in April) for this position:
